Clonmel — the home base
Clonmel sits on the river Suir at the foot of the Comeragh mountains. Population around seventeen thousand. The Irish name Cluain Meala means “meadow of honey” — generous, but the town has earned it. It is where I was raised, where my children grew up, and where IMPT, Bro AI, and the Ireland Quantum commitment all run from. The kitchen table is the head office. That has been a deliberate choice for fifteen years.
Most founders leave. The pull of Dublin and London is real: faster fundraising, denser talent, larger stages. I stayed. The reasons are family and proximity. The travel and retail industries IMPT was built to address are not capital-city industries. They happen in towns like Clonmel. Building a global hotel platform from a Suir-side market town keeps the product honest about who it's actually serving.
The hotel side — Ocean Hotel, Dunmore East
Outside IMPT, our family runs MYC Hospitality, which owns the Ocean Hotel at Dunmore East in Co. Waterford. The hotel suffered a serious fire on 18 June 2021. The insurance claim against ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG remains in active litigation as of 2026, with our solicitor Ciarán Leavy at Lavelle Partners in Dublin handling the matter. We do not intend to sell Ocean Hotel before the case resolves. We do intend to reopen it.
The hospitality experience matters because IMPT's product is built by someone who has run a hotel front desk, not just consulted on one. The product respects what hoteliers actually need: clean APIs, fast settlement, no surprise commission changes, and a climate story they can put on their own website without lying about it.
Family
I'm married, with three children. David is thirteen and starting his second year at Irish secondary school. Mia is sitting Higher Level Maths for the Leaving Certificate. Bronagh, our eldest, died on 24 April 2025 at the age of eighteen, in a road incident outside Clonmel. Bro AI, the second of our companies, is the work we're doing as a family to keep her voice and her stories accessible to the people who loved her, without simulating her or putting words in her mouth. broai.ai launches on the first anniversary.
The fight for road safety in Ireland — for one cone, for one warning sign, for the small things that would mean other Tipperary parents do not get the call my wife and I got — continues. Tipperary Live and the Nationalist have followed the campaign closely.
